Aims and Objectives
Some of the key Aims for the 2010 SPLASH Festival are:
- To enhance its reputation as a Watersport / Beach Festival, once again marketing Nelson Mandela Bay as the Watersport Capital of Africa.
- Broaden the emphasis on Family Activities and Entertainment
- Ensure a full spectrum of Mixed Cultural Activities
- Enhance the range of stalls & products available and maintain a high standard of hand crafted products
- To attract tourists to our city and extend our tourism season
- To be an Icon Festival in South Africa
- Continue its support of fundraising for Community based Charities
- Provide Sponsors with effective exposure and good return on investment
- Provide working opportunities for local service providers and a platform for entrepreneurs to sell their products
Some of the set Objectives for the 2010 SPLASH Festival and perceived benefits to our City are:
- To make Nelson Mandela Bay the obvious choice for visitors seeking fun and special events
- To ensure that the events command a “WOW ” factor and encourage visitors to return again and become regular visitors to our city
- To entice visitors to spend an extended stay in Nelson Mandela Bay; especially by our interaction and co-ordinated efforts with the Ironman Event, held the previous weekend, and the SA Longboard Surfing Championships, together with the World Inflatable Boat Champs the week following the SPLASH Festival
- To promote Nelson Mandela Bay as a safe, value for money holiday destination with impressive tourism assets
- To showcase Nelson Mandela Bay, its venues and abilities to host major events
- To create attractive opportunities wherever feasible and possible
- To encourage children to participate in our proposed events
- Make effective use of opportunities to benefit from the Media coverage that a Festival of this size attracts
- To assist the city in maximizing the impact on local guest houses for accommodation.
- To promote the Culture of the city and the region.
