Responsibility to the community through development programmes

The SPLASH Festival Organising Committee is determined to make a difference in lives of local dwellers, as well as those living on the outskirts of the Metro. For many young entrepreneurs, musically talented individuals and sporting fanatics who otherwise would not get an opportunity to expose their abilities, the SPLASH Festival provides the perfect platform to allow them to show off their many talents and participate in organized events with like minded people.

The opportunity to grow as individuals, to build self esteem and share the experience of team work and joint ventures is all on offer at the SPLASH Festival, with many varied sporting activities, craft and food markets, music and entertainment on stage and if not participating, the chance to be a spectator and simply just have fun.

Various structured development sports and activities have been included in the event programme. Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball and Beach Netball have been organized for numerous schools to be able to participate in the Festival.

Included in this is the allocation of an 18m x 9m Marquee in which we hope to house Development craft activities to be called “Craft in Action ”. Here an assortment of handmade crafts can be seen in the making and finished products can be displayed and sold. The option of showcasing the physical making of the products not only offers potential buyers and other craft enthusiasts the opportunity of seeing how it is done, but to also give them an appreciation of the time, effort and delicate nature of what goes into making each item. These items are made with love and care and depict the culture and emotion of the individual making each product.

As much as this is something to be enjoyed by the viewer, it is highly beneficial to those making the crafts, since it provides them with an opportunity to show off their talents, build confidence in themselves as manufacturers and entrepreneurs and expands the possibilities for growth as individuals, as entrepreneurs and as ambassadors of our unique Metro.

It is by supporting platforms such as this that we build our nation and open the doors to new possibilities and growth potential for the future.
